Formerly a brewery dating back to 1903, this light-filled building now houses a collection of seven one and two-bedroom apartments – with an impressive double height restaurant space on the ground floor.
Community & Connectivity
The design celebrates the local area and the building’s history. Each apartment retains its original Victorian features which are complemented by character-grade, white-washed timber flooring, oak doors and sandstone walls in the bathrooms.
The ground floor has been opened back up to the community too. Formerly used for car parking, it’s been transformed into a restaurant with an active frontage that reconnects the building to its surroundings.
Moments from Whitechapel Station, Albion Court has eight local parks within a half-mile radius. With a Walk Score of 98, it’s classified as a ‘Walker’s Paradise’.
Light
At 2700K, the lighting is warmer and more relaxing in the bedrooms. Elsewhere, we used 3000K+ white light bulbs, which research suggests is crisper and more energising. This aligns with natural circadian rhythms to improve alertness during the day and aid sleep patterns at night.
A perfect brew of history and modernity
Thermal Comfort
The building is ready for a decarbonised grid. With no gas boilers, there are electric panel heaters installed throughout. Each habitable room in every apartment has its own temperature thermostat too, with 24/7 customisable functionality – providing maximum comfort for occupants.
